Product Manager Diagnostics – Benelux

Diabetes Care Products – operating with the most comprehensive portfolio of glucose monitoring solutions.

Laboratory Products – providing innovative solutions to laboratories facilitating the decentralisation of samples testing with a wide and innovative range of point of care instruments, addressing laboratory needs for infectious diseases routines and meeting the needs of core and anatomo-pathology laboratories.

Function

The purpose of the Product Manager is planning and developing the marketing strategy for our Core Lab, POCT, and Pre Analytics lines, reporting and closely communicating with the Marketing Manager and field force.

They estimate the consumer demand for the product they manage, identify potential customers, stay informed of any competing products on the market, develop pricing strategies, and oversee product development. In addition, they work with advertising and public relations staff to promote the firm’s goods and services and are responsible for the specific branding and marketing activities related to his/her product(s). You report to the Benelux Commercial & Marketing Manager.

Responsibilities & Duties:

  • Providing the sales team with the necessary technical expertise to enable them to sell the product. This involves printed and electronic promotional material, product training, and relevant clinical papers. Duo visits, application support and KOL management in the field are an essential part of the job.
  • Reviewing product data to ensure that the field force is kept up to date on new developments regarding the companies or competitors products.
  • Act as point of first reference for all product related inquiries and work collaboratively with colleagues to address any issues that may arise.
  • Close liaison with the field force to assess the response to and suitability of current promotional material and to ensure that the printed promotional material is being used optimally.
  • Design market research projects to assess customer attitudes to the current product range and new product introductions. Either conduct this research with in-house staff or manage an outside agency ie initial identification of suitable partner, definition of responsibilities, communication plan, divisions of responsibility, milestones, contract with company, review transcripts and reports, and recommend action plans from the research.
  • Assists with the development of the annual marketing plan and for controlling advertising, promotion and sales ads in accordance with the annual marketing plan
  • Responsible for preparing product forecasts, and constantly monitoring inventory levels held at central and interstate warehouses including liaison with production to ensure supply timelines.
  • Liaison with the advertising agency regarding the product campaign including journal advertising, direct mail and conferences in accordance with the established branding and marketing guidelines.
  • Controlling and planning of the marketing budget of the assigned product lines

Requirements

  • Business Skills: Able to understand the impact of his/her product(s) on profit and loss calculations and basic business finance, e.g., gross margin percentages and calculations, depreciation, capital and revenue expenditure, cash-flow, overheads, etc.
  • Degree; minimal bachelor business or science and 3-5 year relevant experience.
  • Specific Job Skills: Able to communicate and motivate via written media. Understands the principles of branding and marketing and is able to translate strategic thinking into operational materials.
  • Computer skills: Must be adept in use of MS Office, particularly illustrative software (i.e. Adobe CS), internet and email, online campaign tools and in-house specific computer software.
  • Product Management Ability: Deep knowledge on the specific therapeutic area, products, marketing, product management, product launch- and lifecycle management.
  • Language skills: You have an advanced knowledge of Dutch/French (region related) and English.

Empathic communicator, able to see things from the other person’s point of view. Well presented and businesslike. Sufficiently mobile and flexible to travel weekly within the Benelux and occasionally internationally. Keen for new experience, responsibility and accountability. Able to get on with others and be a team-player. Able to commute reliably to office base and spend equal amount of time at customer sites. Able to work extended hours on occasions when required.
